Research Interests:

Dr. Sinay’s research focuses on menstrual health across childhood and adolescence, with particular emphasis on how nurses and nurse practitioners assess, interpret, and address the menstrual cycle in primary care. Her work examines clinicians’ knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to menstrual cycle-related care in pediatric populations. Using national survey research, integrative reviews, and interdisciplinary collaboration, Dr. Sinay’s scholarship aims to improve menstrual cycle literacy among patients and clinicians. She is passionate about preparing young girls to know and understand their menstrual cycles as well as ensuring that health care providers prioritize the menstrual cycle as a vital sign. Her research is complemented by interests in health communication and information‑seeking behaviors that influence women’s and adolescents’ health outcomes.
