Biography
Anita Brown joined the Department of Communication at the University of Texas at Tyler
as a graduate teaching assistant in 2015. She became a lecturer with the department
in 2017 after finishing her MA in Communication. In addition to lecturing, Anita has
worked as a freelance public relations specialist, writer, photographer, and photojournalist
for 20 years. She teaches undergraduate courses in multimedia production, mass communication
theory, digital photography, photojournalism, mass media and society, introduction
to public relations, writing for public relations, and a variety of other courses
as needed.
Her research interests include media, cultural studies, media鈥檚 impact on cultures
and the relationships between cultures, meaning-making, and media and social activism.
She is currently the advisor for the Communication Club and is working on re-establishing
the club in the department.
