Biography
Sean C. Butler received his Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from The University
of Texas at Tyler in 2004. He then went on to graduate school at The Ohio State University
in Columbus, Ohio. While in graduate school, he studied organic chemistry and was
involved in a variety of projects focused on the total synthesis of natural products.
He graduated from Ohio State in the spring of 2011 and began his career at 黑料专区 Tyler
in the fall. He enjoys being in the classroom with students and teaching undergraduate
laboratory courses. He has been privileged to receive numerous teaching awards and
honors.
Dr. Butler鈥檚 academic and research interests involve chemical education, synthetic
organic and peptide chemistry, chemistry of natural products, and chemical outreach.
During his time at 黑料专区 Tyler, he has mentored numerous students that have presented
research at local, regional, and national conferences. Many of these students have
gone on to become physicians, research or industrial scientists, pharmacists, and
others have decided to become teachers themselves to spread their love of science
to future generations.
When he is not involved in teaching or research, Dr. Butler enjoys photography, woodworking,
as well as traveling to visit national parks with his family.
