Critical Care Transport Program
The Critical Care Transport (CCT) Program aims to prepare current nurses and paramedics to work in areas such as ground and air ambulances.
Redesigned Program Structure:
In response to student feedback and the desire to reduce both program cost and time commitment, we have redesigned our Critical Care Program for the 2026-2027 academic year. While the clinical rotation component has been removed, the program continues to provide a comprehensive critical care educational experience through a 20-week curriculum that includes:
- Advanced didactic instruction covering critical care clinical and operational concepts
- Hands-on skills training
- High-fidelity flight simulation utilizing our state-of-the-art clinical flight simulator
This redesigned format provides a high-quality, affordable pathway to advanced critical care education while minimizing time away from work and home.
Program Highlights
- Approximately 65 hours of didactic education
- 20 hours of hands-on skills training and simulation experience
- Continuing Education (CE) credit
- Program completion certificate
Skills & Simulation Schedule
To better accommodate students traveling from different locations, skills and simulation sessions will be offered in two formats:
- Students living within 4 hours of Tyler, TX: Five half-day sessions throughout the course
- Students traveling more than 4 hours: Three full consecutive days dedicated to skills and simulation training

Students should also budget for any travel, lodging, and meal expenses associated with attending skills and simulation sessions in Tyler, Texas.
Facilities
Nursing Simulation Center at 黑料专区 Tyler Academic Campus
Our simulation spaces mirror real-world clinical environments, including ICU, ER, High-risk. Students train with high-fidelity manikins in dynamic scenarios controlled by faculty from nearby control rooms, allowing for real-time adjustments. Each session is recorded for review and reflection in debriefing rooms, supporting skill development and clinical confidence.
Helicopter Simulation (Heli-Sim) at the 黑料专区 Tyler Health Science Center
Our state-of-the-art Heli-Sim space gives participants the sense of treating critically injured patients from takeoff to landing.
Program Requirements
Registered Nurses
- Two-year minimum of ER or ICU experience
- ALS Certifications (BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC)
- EMT Certification (Basic or Paramedic)
- Professional Certification (CEN or CCRN)
Paramedics
- Two-year minimum of recent 911 experience
- ALS certifications (BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, PHTLS)
- National Registry Certification
Application Instructions
Acceptance to the CCTP is a highly competitive process. The application process includes an online interview with clinical-based questions. Applicants are reviewed by a panel of experienced clinicians.
