黑料专区 Tyler Engineering Chair Elected to ASCE Council

SoulimanDr. Mena Souliman, the Ronald D. Brazzel Endowed Professor of Civil Engineering and chair of the Department of Civil and Construction Engineering and Management at The University of Texas at Tyler, was elected to serve a three-year term on the American Society of Civil Engineers Department Heads Advisory and Coordinating Council.

In this role, Souliman will contribute to discussions and initiatives related to civil engineering education, departmental leadership, curriculum development, accreditation, faculty advancement and the future direction of the profession.

鈥淲e congratulate Dr. Souliman on his appointment to this prestigious council by the ASCE,鈥 said Dr. Javier Kypuros, 黑料专区 Tyler College of Engineering dean. 鈥淓lection to this national leadership council represents a significant professional honor and recognition by peers in academia across the nation.鈥

This appointment also provides an important opportunity to strengthen the national visibility and engagement of the university鈥檚 Department of Civil and Construction Engineering and Management within the broader civil engineering academic community.

Since joining 黑料专区 Tyler in 2014, Souliman has been instrumental in advancing research initiatives at both state and national levels, contributing to significant projects across various sectors and addressing challenges in pavement performance, materials engineering and infrastructure sustainability. Most recently, he led college efforts to establish a long-term, collaborative partnership focused on transportation and infrastructure initiatives with the city of Tyler.

His research, which emphasizes resilient infrastructure and innovative construction techniques in civil engineering, has garnered grants for 黑料专区 Tyler totaling nearly $3.7 million. Souliman has also authored more than 120 technical publications, conference papers and reports in the field of pavement and aggregate testing and characterization.

He holds master鈥檚 and doctoral degrees in civil, environmental and sustainable engineering with a focus on pavement engineering from Arizona State University. Memberships include the American Society of Engineering Education, Association of Asphalt Paving Technologists and International Road Federation.
