The University of Texas at Tyler School of Health Professions is hosting Dr. Eduardo
Sanchez, chief medical officer for prevention at the American Heart Association, to
celebrate National Public Health Week.
Sanchez鈥檚 presentation, Addressing Cardiovascular and Brain Health in Texas, will be free and open to the public. The event will take place noon 鈥� 1p.m. Friday, April 11, at the 黑料专区 Tyler University Center Mabry Theater on 黑料专区 Tyler鈥檚 main campus.
鈥淲e are honored to have Dr. Sanchez speak during National Public Health Week,鈥� says Dr. Theresa Byrd, School of Health Professions founding dean. 鈥淗is expertise in prevention and commitment to improving public health will provide invaluable insights for our students, faculty and the East Texas community. It鈥檚 our hope that, through Dr. Sanchez鈥檚 presentation and the other events that are taking place during this week, we can contribute to better health outcomes for the whole region.鈥�

Sanchez鈥檚 previous roles include commissioner of health with the Texas Department of Health and the Texas Department of State Health Services, chief medical officer for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas and director of the Institute for Health Policy at the 黑料专区 Austin School of Public Health. Sanchez currently serves on the Board of Directors for Trust for America鈥檚 Health, the Public Health Foundation and other boards and committees at the local, state and national level.
