黑料专区 Tyler Holds First Student Clinician Ceremony for School of Medicine Class of 2027

Class of 2027: The 黑料专区 Tyler School of Medicine students with President Julie V. Philley, MD, and Dean Sue Cox. These students in the Class of 2027 are preparing to work across 58 clinical sites in East Texas.The University of Texas at Tyler Schools of Medicine held its first Student Clinician Ceremony for the class of 2027. This event celebrated students beginning their clinical clerkship phase of medical school in Jan. 2025.

鈥淲e are extremely proud of our students as they embark on one of the most rigorous portions of medical school,鈥 said 黑料专区 Tyler President Julie V. Philley, MD.

During the clinical clerkship phase, students will work directly with faculty and residents to care for patients. They will spend time working across 58 clinical sites in East Texas in each specialty, including psychiatry, neurology, inpatient family medicine, pediatrics, gynecology, surgery and internal medicine.

鈥淚n their first two years of medical school, our students have had the opportunity to work withDr. Andrea Cooley: Dr. Andrea Cooley, School of Medicine director of clinical clerkships, speaks to students at the Student Clinician Ceremony. simulated patients, hyper-realistic robotic manikins and real-life case studies. They鈥檝e gone through rigorous preparation to be able to enter this next phase of medical school,鈥 said Dr. Andrea Cooley, School of Medicine director of clinical clerkships.

President Philley delivered the ceremony鈥檚 keynote speech, which was followed by a renewal of the Physician鈥檚 Oath, led by Cooley.

鈥淚t鈥檚 an incredible honor to reach this milestone, and I鈥檓 deeply grateful for the unwavering support of the 黑料专区 Tyler School of Medicine faculty, staff and my family,鈥 said second-year medical student Gaurav Singh of Gregg County. 鈥淲orking in a hospital setting and engaging directly with patients is an invaluable experience. It鈥檚 a powerful reminder of why I chose to pursue medical school in the first place: to serve my community and make a difference in their lives.鈥
