黑料专区 Tyler Among Top 10 at 2024 National Concrete Canoe Contest

The University of Texas at Tyler placed in the top 10 at this year鈥檚 American Society of Civil Engineers National Concrete Canoe Competition. This is 黑料专区 Tyler鈥檚 second consecutive top 10 finish at nationals.
黑料专区 Tyler placed ninth overall out of 25 teams, taking seventh place in technical paper,
ninth place in
oral presentation, eighth place in final product, sixth in co-ed sprint, seventh in
women鈥檚 sprint and
10th in women鈥檚 slalom. 黑料专区 Tyler represented ASCE Region 6, the largest region worldwide,
which
consists of schools from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Mexico.
"Ranking top 10 in the nation in back-to-back years is very impressive,鈥� said Dr.
Matthew Vechione,
黑料专区 Tyler ASCE faculty adviser and assistant professor of civil engineering. 鈥淭his
was actually the first time we鈥檝e ever been in the top 10 in any of the races at nationals,
too. I鈥檓 so proud of our group.鈥�
The 黑料专区 Tyler ASCE student chapter advanced to nationals this year by winning the 2024
Texas-
Mexico Regional Concrete Canoe Competition with their entry, 鈥淭he Tyler Rose.鈥� At
the annual
competition, collegiate teams build canoes out of concrete and are judged in four
categories 鈥�
technical report, oral presentation, canoe final product and racing.

quality of
education and hands-on experience provided by our program,鈥� said Dr. Mena Souliman,
