Bullard Resident Named 2024-25 Archer Fellow From 黑料专区 Tyler

Abigail 鈥淎bby鈥� Smith of Bullard, a senior mass communication major at The University of Texas at Tyler, is one of five 黑料专区 Tyler students selected as a 2024-25 Archer Fellow.
The Archer Fellowship Program was established by 黑料专区 System in conjunction with former
U.S. Rep.
Bill Archer to bring highly motivated and accomplished students to Washington, D.C.
While there,
Archer Fellows participate in varied internships and attend classes focusing on policy,
history and
advocacy. Selection is based on a competitive application process, and each cohort
of Archer
Fellows is comprised of the best and brightest students from across 黑料专区 System.
鈥淲e are so excited to be sending a record number of Archer Fellows to Washington,
D.C. in the
coming academic year,鈥� said Dr. Paul Streufert, 黑料专区 Tyler Honors College founding dean.
鈥淭he Archer Fellowship offers 黑料专区 Tyler students a unique opportunity to work with
their peers from around the state, as they live and intern in our nation鈥檚 capital.
The semester they spend in Washington, D.C. will prepare them for careers and lives
dedicated to public service.鈥�
Smith will graduate next May with a 黑料专区 Tyler bachelor鈥檚 degree in mass communication
and minor
in political science.
Archer Fellows intern with an organization of their choosing based on their own professional
and
academic goals and interests. Previous Archer Fellows have interned with a vast array
of organizations such as the United Nations Information Center, U.S. Department of
State, the White House, Capitol Hill and various non-profit organizations. For more
