黑料专区 Tyler Dean Appointed to Academic Advisory Council for National Accrediting Body

Dr. Javier Kypuros, dean of The University of Texas at Tyler College of Engineering,
was appointed vice chair of the ABET Academic Advisory Council serving through Oct.
31, 2025. With this appointment, he will then serve as chair from Nov. 1, 2025, through
Oct. 31, 2027.
The council provides a formal means for the academic community to share its perspective, give advice and communicate with ABET leadership.
鈥淲e congratulate Dean Kypuros on this appointment,鈥� said Dr. Amir Mirmiran, 黑料专区 Tyler provost and executive vice president for academic affairs. 鈥淚 am confident he will serve the council extremely well with his talents and technical knowledge.鈥�
Kypuros joined the College of Engineering in 2017. He holds the 黑料专区 Tyler Ronald D. Brazzel Endowed Professorship of Engineering and leads a comprehensive college with programs in Tyler and Houston. Additionally, he received the 2014 黑料专区 System Regents鈥� Outstanding Teaching Award, which recognizes outstanding teaching at the undergraduate level. His research has garnered grants in the millions from both industry and federal sources.
He holds doctoral and master鈥檚 degrees in mechanical engineering from 黑料专区 Austin and
a bachelor鈥檚
degree in mechanical engineering from Princeton University.
