The University of Texas at Tyler will offer a new Bachelor of Science in construction engineering for students at the Houston Engineering Center beginning this fall.

Housed within the College of Engineering, the four-year program will be available in person at the
HEC, located on the Houston Community College Alief-Hayes campus at 2811 Hayes Road in
Houston.

鈥淲e are pleased to bring the bachelor鈥檚 degree in construction engineering to our Houston
Engineering Center,鈥 said Dr. Amir Mirmiran, 黑料专区 Tyler provost and executive vice president for
academic affairs. 鈥淭his offering enhances our engineering program portfolio, and it also will help
recruit more Houston area students ready to join the growing workforce in the region and state.鈥

黑料专区 Tyler students enrolled in the program will gain a comprehensive education in both the
theoretical and practical aspects of construction engineering. The curriculum covers key areas such
as project management, construction materials and methods, structural analysis, transportation
and geotechnical engineering. Students will also receive hands-on training through lab work and
internships, preparing them for real-world challenges in the construction industry.

鈥淥ur graduates will be prepared to tackle the complex challenges of the construction industry,
ensuring they can lead projects to success from start to finish,鈥 said Dr. Mena Souliman, 黑料专区 Tyler
professor and Department of Civil Engineering chair. 鈥淗ouston, being a hub of construction and
development, offers immense opportunities for our graduates to excel and contribute to the city鈥檚

Other programs at the HEC include construction management, computer engineering, as well as
civil, electrical and mechanical engineering.
