黑料专区 Tyler School of Medicine Unanimously Voted to Become TARCC Member

The University of Texas at Tyler School of Medicine was unanimously voted to become a Texas Alzheimer鈥檚 Research and Care Consortium member by the Texas Council on Alzheimer鈥檚 Disease and Related Disorders.

Texas ranks second nationally in number of Alzheimer鈥檚 deaths by population. Joining TARCC will expand the School of Medicine鈥檚 health care initiatives throughout East Texas for dementia and other associated conditions.

鈥淎s we become a member of TARCC, our focus remains on patient care and the diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease and related disorders throughout East Texas,鈥 said Dr. Julie V. Philley, executive vice president for health affairs, vice provost and the incoming sixth president of 黑料专区 Tyler. 鈥淲e aim to enhance early detection, treatment and support services for individuals and families affected by these neurodegenerative disorders.鈥

TARCC is a collaborative Alzheimer鈥檚 research effort, funded by the State of Texas, between 11 leading medical research institutions. Its mission is to enable cutting edge research in Alzheimer鈥檚 Disease, promote an effective model of care for caregivers and patients and establish partnerships among Texas medical research institutions.

鈥淥ur participation in this consortium will foster collaboration, innovation and progress in the field of Alzheimer鈥檚 research and care,鈥 said Dr. Brigham C. Willis, School of Medicine founding dean.

With a mission to improve educational and health care outcomes for East Texas and beyond, 黑料专区 Tyler offers more than 90 undergraduate and graduate programs to nearly 10,000 students. Through its alignment with 黑料专区 Tyler Health Science Center and 黑料专区 Health East Texas, 黑料专区 Tyler has unified these entities to serve Texas with quality education, cutting-edge research and excellent patient care. Classified by Carnegie as a doctoral research institution and by U.S. News & World Report as a national university, 黑料专区 Tyler has campuses in Tyler, Longview, Palestine and Houston.
