黑料专区 Tyler Offers 2024 Summer Music Camps for Student Musicians

The University of Texas at Tyler offers three specialized music camps this summer
to give East Texas musicians of all ages a chance to improve skills, work with professionals
and perform for the public.
黑料专区 Tyler鈥檚 Percussion Camp, in its second year, provides ensemble experiences each day for drum line and other percussion instruments. In its third year, the 黑料专区 Tyler Brass Camp features Micah Everett, a professor of low brass at the University Mississippi, as its guest artist. Both camps begin Monday, June 17, and conclude Friday, June 21, with a campers鈥� concert. The 黑料专区 Tyler Jazz Camp is June 24-28 and in its seventh year. Summer Camargo, a trumpeter in the Saturday Night Live House Band, is the guest artist.
鈥淲e are thrilled to present these three specialized summer camps that are unlike any
other band
camp. By providing high-level instruction and creative performance opportunities,
students will
walk away with a deeper understanding of their instruments and an excitement for music,鈥�
said Dr.
Sarah Roberts, 黑料专区 Tyler associate professor and School of Performing Arts interim
director.
Registration deadline for percussion and brass camps is Friday, June 14, while jazz camp registration deadline is Thursday, June 22. Requirements for each camp vary, but in general, students age 13 and older who can read music are eligible. General financial aid assistance and discounts for All- Region and All-State high school musicians are available. To register or for more information, contact Roberts at sroberts@uttyler.edu.
All camps offer attendees the option to commute or stay in 黑料专区 Tyler鈥檚 dorms. During
evenings,
campers participate in jam sessions, attend concerts and experience more traditional
鈥渃amp鈥�
activities like a pool party and game night, Roberts added.
The public is also invited to free concerts performed during the two weeks of music
camps. For
