黑料专区 Tyler School of Health Professions and Partners Host Public Health Week

The University of Texas at Tyler School of Health Professions is partnering with NET Health, 黑料专区 Health East Texas and TJC to host events during National Public Health Week, April 1- 7. These events are free, open to the community and will feature activities such as healthy cooking demonstrations and yoga.

The purpose of this event is to raise awareness of public health needs in East Texas. According to the 2021 health status report of Northeast Texas, if East Texas were its own state, it would rank 47th to 51st in almost every major health outcome.

鈥淣ational Public Health Week serves as a critical reminder of the health disparities present in our communities,鈥 said Dr. Theresa Byrd, School of Health Professions founding dean. 鈥淭hrough collaborative efforts with our partners, 黑料专区 Tyler's School of Health Professions is committed to addressing these challenges head-on and promoting a culture of wellness in East Texas and beyond.鈥

Public Health Week Events

  • Dr. Katherine Root, Kinsey Thompson and TJC Chef Larry Matson will provide information about food and nutrition, utilizing food bank boxes and provide a cooking demonstration 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 2, at the East Texas Food Bank (3201 Roberston Drive, Tyler, Texas 75701).
  • Dr. Kenneth H.   • Health Fair, including food trucks, vendors, yoga and a community garden, 9 a.m. 鈥 12 p.m., Saturday, April 6, on the 黑料专区 Tyler Health Science Center Campus at the 黑料专区 Tyler Health Science Center.
