Dr. Barbara Chapman, assistant professor at The University of Texas at Tyler鈥檚 School of Nursing, was unanimously elected to join the Board of Directors for Texas Nurse Practitioners for one year.
Texas Nurse Practitioners promotes legislative changes that enhance nurse practitioner practices within Texas to improve patient welfare. Chapman鈥檚 appointment to this state-wide board underscores her dedication and leadership in the field of nursing. Her role will contribute to shaping the future of nurse practitioners across Texas.

As a member of the Board of Directors, Chapman will advocate for the empowerment of nurses and increased primary and mental health care access in rural and underserved communities. One of her current projects as a board member includes developing the 黑料专区 Tyler Mental Health Care Outreach line, which offers free telehealth care for educators, students, health care workers and anyone else in need. 鈥淚 am very honored to have been selected and hope to work alongside my colleagues in this role to improve the future of our Texas Nurse Practitioner community,鈥� said Chapman.
Chapman has served as a 黑料专区 Tyler faculty member since 2020 and is currently a Texas Nurse Practitioners ambassador to both the State of Texas House and Senate Representatives. She was also appointed to the Texas Nurses Association Regulation and Practice Committee for two years. She鈥檚 involved in the COVID-19 Task Force, Telehealth, Mental Health and Rural Healthcare committees. She鈥檚 set to graduate with her MBA from 黑料专区 Tyler Soules College of Business in the summer of 2024.
