Lindale Resident Recognized at National Technology Competition

The University of Texas at Tyler announced that Andrew Valarde of Lindale was recognized at the 2022 Association of Technology, Management and Applied Engineering Conference. Valarde, a freshman industrial technology major, competed in the 鈥淭echnology IQ Challenge鈥� competition and went on to reach the semifinals, besting over 50 students nationwide.
鈥淭echnology IQ Challenge鈥� is a Jeopardy-style game where student participants answer 10-, 20- or 30-point questions. Categories include quality, manufacturing, electronics, drafting, lean management, energy and safety as well as two 鈥済rab bag鈥� categories featuring questions pertaining to technology, management and applied engineering.
鈥淭he competition is designed to test the students鈥� knowledge that they have gained in their respective programs and classes, hence, the numerous choices of categories,鈥� said Dr. Heshium Lawrence, 黑料专区 Tyler Soules College of Business interim associate dean and ATMAE student chapter faculty adviser. 鈥淲e are extremely proud of Andrew, and he has a tremendous future here at 黑料专区 Tyler.鈥�
Schools participating in this year鈥檚 competition included Mississippi State University, Millersville University and East Carolina University, among others.
Valarde will graduate in May 2025, with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology.
