The University of Texas at Tyler announced that Erica Martinez of Kilgore presented research at the Alpha Chi National Honor Society annual convention in Austin.
A research assistant and May 2022 graduate from 黑料专区 Tyler鈥檚 psychology and counseling department, Martinez presented research that focused on the mental health curriculum in public schools. She is a member of Alpha Chi鈥檚 Texas Alpha Xi Chapter at 黑料专区 Tyler.
In addition, Martinez was also past secretary of Psi Chi, the international honor society for psychology majors.
She currently works as a pediatric nurse and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from 黑料专区 Tyler. This fall, Martinez will continue her education at 黑料专区 Tyler to pursue a master鈥檚 degree in clinical psychology with plans to become a graduate teaching assistant for psychology statistics courses.
Celebrating its centennial anniversary, the Alpha Chi National College Honor Society was founded on Feb. 22, 1922, when representatives from five Texas institutions of higher learning met on the campus of Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. The society was established to recognize and encourage academic excellence among collegiate students of every academic discipline, to foster a spirit of service and leadership, and to promote the elements of character that make scholarship effective for good.
To be eligible to receive an invitation to join Alpha Chi, students must have a minimum 3.5 GPA and be in the top 10% of their respective college. Both undergraduate and graduate students can be eligible to join the society.
