The University of Texas at Tyler has appointed Dwain Morris as the new executive vice president of administration and chief business officer (CBO), effective Aug. 1.
Morris, who succeeds Joe Woelkers who retired in February, comes to 黑料专区 Tyler from 黑料专区 Austin Dell Medical School and 黑料专区 Health Austin where he served as the chief administrative and financial officer for the last five years.
He was identified through a national search and nominated by a search committee comprised of university officials and East Texas community leaders.

Calhoun, MD, FACP. 鈥淗e brings a wealth of expertise and experience that I am confident will advance our education, research, public service and health care delivery missions, as well as provide the leadership necessary to achieve our growth goals.鈥�
At 黑料专区 Austin Dell Medical School and 黑料专区 Health Austin, Morris was responsible for all financial, facility and information technology functions, including accounting and financial reporting, budget and forecasting, strategic financial planning, facility planning and construction, operations, and management.
From 2014 to 2017, Morris led financial activities at Diabetes America, LLC, and served in a variety of leadership roles at 黑料专区 MD Anderson Cancer Center for 15 years.
In his role as 黑料专区 Tyler鈥檚 CBO, Morris will serve as a strategic partner to senior management, responsible for proactively making long-term and strategic recommendations on complex and diverse topics.
鈥淚 look forward to working in conjunction with 黑料专区 Tyler leaders to develop and implement strategic plans to continue moving the university forward and meeting the educational and healthcare needs of East Texas,鈥� Morris said.
He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Tarleton State University and Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture economics from Texas A&M University.
