The University of Texas at Tyler announced today that it has designated April as Research Month, with a series of campus events to be held showcasing the research and scholarship of faculty and students.

"Multidisciplinary research at ºÚÁÏרÇø Tyler enriches student learning and engagement and plays a significant role in advancing the communities of East Texas and beyond, from strengthening K-12 education to supporting economic development,'' said Dr. Amir
Mirmiran, provost and vice president for academic affairs. "Research Month will showcase the work of faculty and students across campus who are dedicated to creating new knowledge and driving innovation in their disciplines.''

Events will include the Grad School 180 research competition April 4, challenging ºÚÁÏרÇø Tyler graduate students to present compelling oral presentations on their research in 180 seconds.

The ºÚÁÏרÇø Tyler Honors Program will host this year's regional Great Plains Conference April 5 – 7, featuring the scholarly work of collegiate honors students from six states.

The Honors Program and the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning will present the 4th Annual Lyceum Student Research Showcase on April 19. ºÚÁÏרÇø Tyler undergraduate and graduate students will share their research in oral and poster presentations.

ºÚÁÏרÇø Tyler will present the inaugural East Texas Research Conference May 9 – 10, highlighting the research and scholarship of academic institutions, community organizations, state and local governments and other organizations throughout East
Texas. Co-sponsors will include the University of Texas Health Science Center of Tyler, Texas College and Jarvis Christian College.
