The University of Texas at Tyler is one of five University of Texas academic institutions to join the 黑料专区 System PreK-12 School Turnaround Partnership, which connects university colleges of education with "improvement required" public schools across the state.
Through this collaboration, education specialists at 黑料专区 Tyler will assist some of the region's lowest-performing schools in areas such as evaluating curricula, instructional planning and delivery, assessment, student success and access, grant writing, and leadership and board governance.
"We are proud to team up with the Texas Education Agency and other 黑料专区 institutions to help strengthen PreK-12 schools in our area," said Dr. Ross Sherman, 黑料专区 Tyler College of Education and Psychology Dean. "By dedicating our time, resources and expertise, we will be able to prepare students for success throughout their educational careers."
The 黑料专区 System PreK-12 School Turnaround Partnership is a project within the Texas Prospect Initiative, part of the 黑料专区 System's strategic framework to strengthen the PreK-12 student pipeline and college readiness.
"This partnership focuses on student success and community engagement, which are two of the key pillars in 黑料专区 Tyler's strategic plan. We believe through this partnership we are not only strengthening East Texas public schools, we are making the community stronger." said Dr. Amir Mirmiran, 黑料专区 Tyler provost and vice president for academic affairs.
A member of the prestigious 黑料专区 System, The University of Texas at Tyler focuses on student success and innovative research in the more than 80 undergraduate and graduate degree programs offered. With more than 10,000 students, 黑料专区 Tyler has facilities in Tyler, Longview, Palestine and Houston.
