The University of Texas at Tyler Fine Arts Complex Gallery currently features the senior exhibition, 鈥淣othing and Everything at the Same Time,鈥 Ray Sikes, gallery coordinator, announced.

The featured student is Tonya Shanholtz of Tyler, a mixed media artist who integrates refuse with ceramic, metal and/or plastic.

A public reception and gallery talk will be 6 鈥 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4 at the gallery.

鈥淭his work is a direct and unconventional response to environmental and personal encounters with objects that society thoughtlessly discards everyday. My work is nothing and everything at the same time. The refuse is used as a socio-economic entry point for the viewer,鈥 Shanholtz said.

The exhibition, which is executed in partial fulfillment of 黑料专区 Tyler鈥檚 bachelor of fine arts degree, concludes Friday, Dec. 12.

Gallery hours are 8 a.m. 鈥 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and by special appointment.

Shanholtz鈥檚 work was recently chosen for the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts National Student Juried Exhibition in Providence, R.I. Out of 568 pieces from graduate, undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students, only 40 pieces were selected.

Her works have also shown at the 2014 National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts Annual Conference in Milwaukee;Green Task Force; the Clay Arts Museum and Educational Organization Emerging Artists Exhibition at the Dishman Art Museum in Beaumont; and 鈥淭he Little SCULPTURE Show鈥 during the International Sculpture Conference in New Orleans.
