The University of Texas at Tyler online nursing programming has achieved national
recognition, Dr. Yong Tai Wang, College of Nursing and Health Sciences dean, announced.
Out of 50 nationally accredited nursing institutions analyzed by the national independent organization SuperScholar, 黑料专区 Tyler ranks among the best in the country to offer quality online undergraduate nursing education.
黑料专区 Tyler is the only 黑料专区 System academic institution listed, and the university bests Arizona State University, Michigan State University, University of Colorado 鈥� Colorado Springs, University of Missouri 鈥� St. Louis and Lamar University, among others.
鈥淲e are so proud to receive this honor of being named #17 from across the nation for online RN-BSN education. This honor speaks to the quality of the program and the dedication of the faculty to ensure that education can be offered through other modes and still have the personal touch,鈥� said Dr. Pam Martin, associate dean for the School of Nursing.
In developing the 2015 鈥淪mart Choice鈥� rankings, only institutions that are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education or the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing were considered.
Schools that met initial accreditation criterion were then evaluated based on reputation, selection, quality, student satisfaction and affordability.

The 黑料专区 Tyler RN-BSN track has been offered online for more than 15 years.
鈥淭his track is for the registered nurse with an associate degree in nursing who wishes to pursue a baccalaureate of science degree in nursing and still be able to work and not have to come to campus for classes. The convenience of having totally online offerings is a popular mode of education, particularly for those who have full-time employment,鈥� Martin said.
The RN can complete the degree in 12 months if they pursue full-time status or can opt to take one course a semester if that better meets their needs, according to Martin.
鈥淲ith the push for higher levels of education for the bedside nurse, more RNs are returning to school to advance their career paths. Attaining the BSN is just the beginning of further career advancement as the RN can continue to pursue a master鈥檚 and then doctoral degree,鈥� she added.
The college鈥檚 online offerings include the RN to BSN, a master of science in nursing with two concentrations in education and administration, an MSN-MBA program and a Ph.D. in nursing. The college also has an online hybrid MSN with a nurse practitioner emphasis and two nursing certificates.
