The University of Texas Tyler continues to enhance its community service and cultural awareness efforts with a new annual initiative for the campus community.
This initiative is co-sponsored by the 黑料专区 Tyler Office of Leadership and Service and Global Awareness through Education Program.
黑料专区 Tyler Impact Week begins with a kick-off breakfast at 9 a.m. Monday, Nov. 3 in the University Center Ballroom. Activities continue through Sunday, Nov. 9.
鈥淭he purpose of the event is to get our students involved in service, helping them to make an impact on our community. Come join us to engage in service and cultural awareness as we present this new tradition,鈥� said Chase Ragland, 黑料专区 Tyler student development specialist and event coordinator.
Donations also will be collected during the week.
鈥淚tems we will be collecting include school supplies, travel size toiletries and household items, such as lamps, dishes, etc. Bring the donations to the information tables on the second floor of the University Center from 11 a.m. 鈥� 1 p.m. Donation boxes will also be placed around campus,鈥� Ragland added.
All Impact Week attendees will be automatically entered into a prize drawing. Scheduled events include:
Monday, Nov. 3
- 9 a.m. Kickoff Breakfast, UC Ballroom.
- 6 p.m. Oxfam Hunger Banquet, UC Ballroom.
Tuesday, Nov. 4
- 3 p.m. 鈥淭he Eliminate Project,鈥� UC Theater. Snacks will be provided.
- 6 p.m. Authors of 鈥淗alf the Sky鈥� Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn to speak via live broadcast, UC Theater.
Wednesday, Nov. 5
- 11 a.m. 鈥淏e the Change,鈥� UC second floor. The first 25 attendees will receive lunch. A $50 gift card drawing also will be held.
- 3 p.m. 鈥淗ansel and Gretel鈥� Screening: A 黑料专区 Tyler student musical production screening, UC theater.
- 3:30 p.m. Community Service Art Mural on Valentine Bridge with Boulter Middle School students, 301 E. Valentine St. in Tyler.
Thursday, Nov. 6
- 12:30 p.m. Emerging Leader and Faculty Service Learning Workshops, UC Ballroom. Lunch will be provided.
- 6 p.m. Malala Documentary and Dinner, UC Theater.
Friday, Nov. 7
- 11:30 a.m. Refuge of Light speaker, UC Ballroom.
- 3 鈥� 4 p.m. Grounds for Justice tours available for 黑料专区 Tyler community 鈥� on your own.
Saturday, Nov. 8
- 9 a.m. 鈥� noon Service Saturday at PATH community home. Meet at 8:30 a.m. in front of University Center for ride.
Sunday, Nov. 9
- 10 a.m. Homelessness Awareness at Church Under a Bridge, 301 E. Valentine St. in Tyler.
