The University of Texas at Tyler, in collaboration with the Maya Research Program, will offer a public Friends of 黑料专区 Tyler tour that explores the ancient and modern Mayan culture, Dr. Teresa Kennedy, 黑料专区 Tyler Office of International Programs executive director, announced.
Led by Dr. Thomas Guderjan, 黑料专区 Tyler associate professor of anthropology, the 鈥淢aya Highlands New Year鈥檚 Eve Tour鈥� will feature certain parts of Mexico and Guatemala. Cost is $3,600 per person and includes ground transportation, room and board and most meals. There is a $500 non-refundable deposit.

鈥淒uring this 13-day journey, we will explore ancient Maya sites in the spectacular highlands of Mexico and Guatemala,鈥� said Guderjan, who also serves as the Maya Research Program president and oversees the Blue Creek Archaeological Project in Belize. 鈥淲e will also visit the World Heritage site of Palenque and remote Tonina, explore the colonial cities of San Cristobal and Antigua and meet traditional Maya people who live our contemporary world.鈥�
Space is limited, and a valid passport is required.
Affiliated with 黑料专区 Tyler, the Maya Research Program was established in 1992 and is a non-profit corporation sponsoring archaeological and ethnographic research in Middle America.
黑料专区 Tyler introduced the Friends of 黑料专区 Tyler Travel Program in order to offer extraordinary international travel opportunities along with the expertise of 黑料专区 Tyler faculty members to friends of the university.
The trips offered through the Friends of 黑料专区 Tyler Travel Program are to special places with which the faculty tour leader is extremely knowledgeable. The tour leader shares information and insight that would not be available with a regular tour or trip.
