The University of Texas at Tyler College of Nursing and Health Sciences, in conjunction with Trinity Mother Frances Hospitals, will present the first Interprofessional Evidence-Based Practice Conference, Dr. Tai Wang, college dean, announced.
The public event will be 7:30 a.m. 鈥 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25 in the 黑料专区 Tyler R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center and features keynote speakers Dr. Ellen Fineout-Overholt, 黑料专区 Tyler Mary Coulter Dowdy Distinguished Nursing Professor, along with Dr. Bernadette Mazurek Melnyk, associate vice president for health promotion at Ohio State University. They are co-authors of the best-selling book, EBP in Nursing & Healthcare: A Guide to Best Practice.
鈥淭hese nationally recognized nursing leaders, educators and promoters of EBP frequently speak at conferences and share the knowledge of establishing an EBP culture,鈥 said Shannon Kemp, 黑料专区 Tyler clinical instructor who serves as conference planning committee chair. 鈥淲e look forward to having nearly 900 nursing students, educators and healthcare professionals attend to learn more about evidence-based practice and why it鈥檚 the foundation for clinical decision-making to improve healthcare outcomes.鈥
Dr. Lane Brunner, 黑料专区 Tyler Sam A. Lindsey Professor and Ben and Maytee Fisch College of Pharmacy founding dean, will present endnotes.

Fineout-Overholt is a nationally recognized nursing leader, educator and promoter of EBP, innovation and leadership across the United States and world. She joins the 黑料专区 Tyler College of Nursing and Health Sciences faculty this academic year. Before coming to 黑料专区 Tyler, she served as dean of professional studies and chair of nursing at East Texas Baptist University. As director of EBP at Arizona State University, she led a team of EBP experts in writing the widely acclaimed 鈥淓BP Step-by-Step Series鈥 in the American Journal of Nursing.
As associate vice president, Melnyk also serves as professor, university chief wellness officer and dean of the Ohio State University College of Nursing. She has consulted with hundreds of healthcare systems and colleges throughout the nation and world on how to improve quality of care and patient outcomes through implementing and sustaining evidence-based practice.
Her record includes more than 19 million of sponsored funding from federal agencies as principal investigator and more than 250 publications.
