Clara Goebel of Plano, a sophomore at The University of Texas at Tyler, has been elected vice chair of the 黑料专区 System Student Advisory Council, Dr. Howard Patterson, 黑料专区 Tyler vice president for student affairs, announced.
Goebel was elected by 黑料专区SSAC members in Austin. As vice chair, she represents the more than 215,000 students in the 黑料专区 System. Her term will conclude next spring.
鈥淎s one of the 黑料专区 Tyler Student Government Association advisers, I am excited for Clara to represent 黑料专区 Tyler in this role,鈥� said Adrian Lodge, 黑料专区 Tyler student development specialist who oversees new student programs. 鈥淪he is a very dedicated student and SGA officer here on campus, and I look forward to seeing her success with the 黑料专区SSAC.鈥�
Established in 1989, the 黑料专区SSAC consists of two student representatives from each 黑料专区 System component institution that enrolls students. The council meets three times annually and provides input to the 黑料专区 System Board of Regents working through and with the chancellor and 黑料专区 System administration on issues of student concern.
Goebel currently is the 黑料专区 Tyler SGA parliamentarian and serves as a supplemental instruction student intern. She received the 2013 黑料专区 Tyler SGA Senator of the Year Award and was on the President鈥檚 Honor Roll. Goebel also plans to begin an environmental club at 黑料专区 Tyler this fall.
She will graduate with a bachelor of science degree in history with a minor in biochemistry in May 2016 and hopes to become a physician or surgeon.
