The University of Texas at Tyler Alumni Association will recognize three graduates
during this year’s Alumni and Friends Gala, Brittany Childs, alumni relations director,
announced.
The event will be 7 p.m. Saturday, March 21 at the ºÚÁÏ×¨Çø Tyler Ornelas Activity Center.
The 2015 honorees are Dr. Scott Scarborough and Traci Kenner, distinguished alumni and Holly Smallwood, distinguished young alumna.
Tickets are $50 for general admission, $40 for ºÚÁÏ×¨Çø Tyler faculty/staff and $25 for ºÚÁÏ×¨Çø Tyler students. Tables of eight are available for $750 for general admission and $500 for the ºÚÁÏ×¨Çø Tyler community.

Distinguished alumnus Scarborough earned a master of business administration from ºÚÁÏ×¨Çø Tyler in 1999. He currently serves as president of the University of Akron. Prior to his presidency, Scarborough previously served in administrative leadership positions within the University of Toledo, DePaul University, ºÚÁÏ×¨Çø System and also at ºÚÁÏ×¨Çø Tyler, as the university’s vice president for business affairs.
Distinguished alumna Kenner earned a bachelor of business administration from ºÚÁÏ×¨Çø Tyler in 1985. As assistant U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Texas, she serves as the district’s appellate chief. Among many accolades, Kenner was given the Director’s Award for Superior Performance as an Assistant United States Attorney from the Executive Office for United States Attorneys in 1998, 2004 and again in 2014.
Distinguished young alumna Smallwood earned a bachelor of science in nursing from ºÚÁÏ×¨Çø Tyler in 2008. She is owner of SweetHoney Clothing Co., a small ‘side job’ that has now turned into a successful online business.
Awards are presented to alumni who have distinguished themselves in their professional achievements, contributions to society and support of ºÚÁÏ×¨Çø Tyler.
