The University of Texas at Tyler will present the award-winning Brock McGuire Band on Wednesday, March 4, Dr. Paul Streufert, 黑料专区 Tyler executive director of special academic programs, announced.
The public performance begins at 6 p.m. in the 黑料专区 Tyler University Center theater.
鈥淲e are excited to bring a group of such caliber to our campus,鈥� Streufert said.
Event co-sponsors are the 黑料专区 Tyler Honors and Global Awareness Through Education programs and School of Performing Arts.
Passion and precision, authenticity and diversity: these are the hallmarks of the Brock McGuire Band in concert. They are steeped in tradition and perform it with abiding respect and creativity. The band鈥檚 repertoire runs wide and deep; their tight, tenacious blend of instruments emphasizing mostly Irish music but also sprinkling in impressive arrangements of American Old Timey, Bluegrass, French-Canadian and other Celtic traditions.
American music critic Bill Margeson has hailed their new CD collaboration, 鈥淕reen Grass Blue Grass鈥� with 14鈥搕ime Grammy Award庐 Winner Ricky Skaggs, as 鈥楢 Masterpiece.鈥�
Fronted by Moving Cloud founding members Paul Brock and Manus McGuire, the group received the 鈥淚rish Instrumental Band of the Decade鈥� Award from the Irish American News.
Appearances by the Brock McGuire Band include the Grand Ole Opry, Irish Fest, Chicago Cultural Center and the North Texas Irish Festival, among others.
