The University of Texas at Tyler College of Nursing and Health Sciences invites men and women to participate in a research study for colorectal cancer survivors, Dr. Pam Martin, college interim dean, announced.

Participants must be at least 18 years old, have been diagnosed with Stage I, II or III colorectal cancer within the past five years (since January 2008), able to read and write English and willing to complete testing of memory/thinking and questionnaires.

Testing will require one to one-and-half hours of time at a location of the participants鈥 choosing.

Registered nurse Lynn Summers, a doctoral nursing student at 黑料专区 Tyler, is conducting the study.

鈥淭he purpose of this research study is to understand the effect of treatment for colorectal cancer on memory and brain function,鈥 said Summers, who is the daughter-in-law of a colorectal cancer survivor. 鈥淪ome persons who have been diagnosed with cancer have reported their thinking ability has been affected by treatment. The research is not clear if this is a common problem for colorectal cancer survivors.鈥

If desired, participants will be entered in a drawing at the conclusion of the study for one of two $50 Wal-Mart gift cards, she added.

For more information, call Summers, 903.780.5077 or email lynn.summers.study@gmail.com.
