Dr. Lane J. Brunner has been named founding dean of the new College of Pharmacy at The University of Texas at Tyler, Dr. Alisa White, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs, announced.
Brunner joins 黑料专区 Tyler from the California Northstate University College of Pharmacy where he served as professor and Department of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Sciences chair. This will be Brunner鈥檚 second experience as founding dean, having successfully served in that role at the Regis University School of Pharmacy in Denver.
鈥淲e are delighted to welcome Dr. Brunner to the 黑料专区 Tyler community,鈥 White said. 鈥淲ith his exceptional experience as a founding dean, professional pharmacist and accomplished researcher, we know he will do great things for our new college.鈥
Earlier this year, the Texas Legislature passed legislation authorizing 黑料专区 System to establish a college of pharmacy at 黑料专区 Tyler. Gov. Rick Perry signed the legislation in June, and the 黑料专区 System Board of Regents is expected to officially establish the school later this month.
鈥淚t is an honor to be invited to join a university with the strong reputation of 黑料专区 Tyler, and I am excited about getting to work on this new program that is so vital to the East Texas region. My wife, Molly, and I look forward to living in Tyler,鈥 Brunner said.
Prior to serving as the founding dean for the Regis University Pharmacy School, he served the 黑料专区 Austin College of Pharmacy as an associate professor. In that role, he earned the Texas Excellence in Teaching Award and was named a Dean鈥檚 Fellow. Brunner has kept strong ties to Texas throughout his career, regularly speaking to Texas pharmacy groups and maintaining his Texas license to practice pharmacy in the state since 1987.
He holds a master of science in pharmaceutics from the University of Houston and a Ph.D. in pharmacy from the University of Georgia.
