James Pace, professor of visual art at The University of Texas at Tyler, was recently recognized for his work, Dr. Martin Slann, College of Arts and Sciences dean, announced.
At the 33rd Annual National Print Exhibition at Artlink, Pace鈥檚 serigraph titled, 鈥淗ummingweed鈥 earned the Jurors Purchased Award.
The long-standing juried competition features nationwide artists and is sponsored by the Auer Center for the Arts and Culture in Fort Wayne, Indiana and the Fort Wayne Museum of Art.
As part of the recognition, the work will become part of the permanent collection of the museum. Mary Bookwalter, professor at Governors State University, served as juror and curator.
Pace also received the Award of Excellence for his work serigraph collage titled, 鈥淭urning Practice into Knowledge鈥 at the 37th ART at the X National Exhibition, sponsored by Xavier University.
The all media show, which featured more than 70 artists from the United States and Canada, intended to reflect multicultural diversity with the theme 鈥渁rt that reflects multicultural expressions of faith and spirituality.鈥
Jurors were Jane Black, director of the Dayton Art Institute and Kristin Spangenberg, curator at the Cincinnati Art Museum. As a result of this exhibition, Pace was invited to participate in an ongoing show at the Dayton Art Center.
