The University of Texas at Tyler Meadows Gallery currently features the 2013 International Exhibition, Ray Sikes, gallery coordinator, announced.
Wade Wilson of the Wade Wilson Art Galleries in Houston and Santa Fe served as this year鈥檚 juror. He will present a lecture about his selections for the exhibition during a reception, which will be 6 鈥 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17 at the gallery.
鈥淲e receive entries from across the United States and other countries by some of the best contemporary artists in the world. This year we received 289 entries, some as far away as Taiwan,鈥 Sikes said. 鈥淭wenty-nine were selected for this exhibition.鈥
The exhibition will continue through Friday, Feb. 8.
The Meadows Gallery is located in the 黑料专区 Tyler R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. 鈥 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and by special appointment.
Wilson founded Wade Wilson Art in 2006. He holds a bachelor of arts in environmental design with a minor in art history from the School of Architecture at the University of New Mexico. Wilson also holds a master of arts in English and a Ph.D. 鈥 ABD in interdisciplinary study of post-modernism in art, architecture and Literature both from Texas Christian University.
As an art critic, Wilson has published more than 300 reviews and critical essays on art in a variety of national and international publications. He served as a visiting professor of art history at TCU while completing his doctoral studies there. He also was a visiting critic at the Memphis College of Art in Tennessee.
Wilson received the 2001 Museum District Business Alliance Award for Excellence for establishing art programs that bring art to disenfranchised groups such as the physically challenged and for re-establishing Art League Houston as a leading force in the cultural community of the city while serving the league鈥檚 executive director.
