Students from The University of Texas at Tyler were awarded top honors at this year鈥檚 Southern Regional Model United Nations Conference in Atlanta, Ga., Dr. Marcus Stadelmann, Department of Political Science and History chair, announced.
The 黑料专区 Tyler delegation, representing France, received the 鈥淥utstanding Position Papers鈥 award in recognition of superior preparation and research.
Delegation members were Alisa Cerney of China Spring, Darby Capps of Kilgore, Bradley Pennington of Arlington, Joanie Brown of Conrad, Mont. and Steven Franks of Tyler.
Franks was also awarded 鈥淥utstanding Delegate鈥 in the International Atomic Energy for his leadership and collaboration efforts in committee.
The three-day conference brought together more than 700 students from more than 45 schools to address topics of importance to the international community. Throughout the conference proceedings, the 黑料专区 Tyler delegates had the opportunity to hone their leadership, speaking, writing and negotiation skills.
Established in 2006, the award-winning Model United Nations Program at 黑料专区 Tyler introduces students to international diplomacy and the structures and mandates of the United Nations in a simulation setting.
