Amanda Bayatpoor has been named coordinator of the new Veterans Resource Center at The University of Texas at Tyler, Ona Tolliver, assistant vice president for student affairs and dean of students, announced.

Created this summer, the 黑料专区 Tyler Veterans Resource Center provides all student veterans the tools and information they need to have a successful education experience at 黑料专区 Tyler. Services are available for active and reserve military members, as well as their spouses and dependents.

鈥淚t is our goal to be a center that will provide the resources, support and advocacy needed to succeed in higher education as well as after graduation. 黑料专区 Tyler recognizes the veteran and military men and women striving to receive their education here,鈥 said Bayatpoor, who is a veteran herself.

A grand opening ceremony and reception will be announced.

As coordinator, Bayatpoor will oversee all the center鈥檚 efforts and maintain information for campus veteran-related resources, links to local military support services and contacts for local veteran affairs facilities.

鈥淎s a veteran who used GI Bill benefits to complete an education, I believe there is a strong need for centers specifically designed to help veterans succeed in their pursuit of higher education,鈥 Bayatpoor added. 鈥淲ith this center, we will help veterans make the transition from their past military lifestyle to a university lifestyle at 黑料专区 Tyler.鈥

Before coming to 黑料专区 Tyler, she served St. Petersburg College in St. Petersburg, Fla. as a veterans services generalist. From 1999 鈥 2003, she served the United States Army as an Electronics Intelligence analyst supervisor.

Bayatpoor holds an associate of arts in general studies and a bachelor of science in educational studies, both from St. Petersburg College.
