The University of Texas at Tyler will hold its first 鈥淲elcome Week鈥� for international students Aug. 13 鈥� 17, Dr. Jill Blondin, Center for Global Education director, announced.
During the orientation week, both graduate and undergraduate international students will have the opportunity to ask questions of the admissions staff, learn about 黑料专区 Tyler and familiarize themselves with the campus and Tyler area.
鈥淲e are expecting more than 40 new international students for the fall,鈥� said Angela Copeland, 黑料专区 Tyler international undergraduate adviser. 鈥淲e are extremely excited about the growth of our undergraduate international enrollment and look forward to welcoming our new students to Tyler, Texas and The University of Texas at Tyler.鈥�
黑料专区 Tyler anticipates about 30 new graduate international students. This makes an anticipated total of about 70 new international students joining campus this fall.
鈥淲e are very happy to have the university鈥檚 support in offering a schedule of activities and information sessions for our new international students,鈥� said Jennifer Knupp, 黑料专区 Tyler graduate international student admissions and services adviser. 鈥淭he hope is that the expanded program will support the students in the initial transition to campus, to Tyler and to the U.S. and help to set them on the path to a successful academic career at 黑料专区 Tyler.鈥�
The week is sponsored by the 黑料专区 Tyler Center for Global Education and Offices of Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions.
A reception for the students will be at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 17 at the Tyler Rose Garden. The reception is co-hosted by the City of Tyler.
