The University of Texas at Tyler鈥檚 Mu Kappa Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi was recognized at the 2012 BAP Southwest Regional Meeting, where they placed in the top three in competition, Dr. Harold Doty, Soules College of Business dean, announced.
Student participants, listed by hometown with classification, were:
CARTHAGE 鈥� Ashley Paige Hudson, senior.
KATY 鈥� Rebecca Kasino, senior.
MINEOLA 鈥� John Trejo, senior.
PALESTINE 鈥� Maria Campos, junior and Matthew Zurawski, senior.
TEAGUE 鈥� John Burleson, graduate student.
TYLER 鈥� Douglas Brown, graduate student and Summer English, graduate student.
ZIMBABWE 鈥� Laurence Simba Sabeta, junior.
Burleson, Brown, English and Kasino participated in the Deloitte Best Practices Competition, where students learn to develop change-coping strategies. Their presentation about the chapter鈥檚 new guidelines to ease transition for newly elected officers was among the top three given.
Dr. Veronda Willis, 黑料专区 Tyler assistant professor of accounting and Mu Kappa Chapter adviser, attended in support of the chapter and students.
Themed 鈥淪tudent to Professional,鈥� the meeting gave students the opportunity to attend several informational sessions about service activities, communication styles and preparation for the certified public accountant exam, among other topics.
Beta Alpha Psi is an honorary organization for financial information students and professionals. Its primary objective is to encourage and give recognition to scholastic and professional excellence in the business information field.
